What Goat Yoga Taught Me About Leadership, Control, and Chaos

Jun 9, 2025

Yesterday, I did goat yoga. Yes, actual goats. And no, it wasn’t your typical serene yoga experience. There was laughter, joy, and - let’s be honest - pee and poop everywhere. 🐐💩

If you’ve never tried it, goat yoga is exactly what it sounds like: you do your yoga poses while friendly, mischievous goats roam freely around you, sometimes climbing on your back or getting a little too close for comfort.

And let me tell you goats have zeerrroooo boundaries. One climbed on my back mid-pose. Another tried to eat my hair. There was no such thing as personal space - only goat space.

At first, I caught myself trying to control the experience. I shifted my mat, dodged hooves, and planned my next move. But here’s the truth: you can’t control a goat.

And honestly? Sometimes, you can’t control your surroundings, your team, or even the chaos of your workday. Life just happens.

But what you can control is how you show up:

  • Your energy.

  • How you respond to the unexpected.

  • How you hold yourself when everything feels a bit wild.

Goat yoga was a perfect reminder that leadership isn’t about having a spotless mat or a perfect plan. It’s about being grounded within - even when the world around you is messy, noisy, and unpredictable.

This experience also got me thinking about team dynamics. If you want a team building activity that’s playful, surprising, and filled with teachable moments, goat yoga is a 10/10 recommendation. Just maybe don’t wear your favourite leggings. 😅

So here’s my Monday reminder to you:

Let go of the goat poop. Focus on your breath. And remember - you’ve got this. 💪💛
